Characteristics:
- FACW

- mature leaves lanceolate, long–attenuate at tip
- leaves often somewhat glaucus beneath
- immature leaves often reddish
- high proportion of leaves are pendulous (hanging down), somewhat like black willow
- when in sun, petioles are red
- no glands at base of petioles
